Brighton Banquet: August 1&2

Brighton Banquet consists of all the Stake Leaders and Brighton Representatives coming from all over Utah for a nice dinner and program. They also get a tour of the camp, to see where the girls from their Stakes get to come each summer. If they like what they see, then they sign up for a week for the next summer. Basically, we're selling the camp. We dressed up nice, cleaned up/showered, and worked our butts off making Brighton look the BEST it could.

After cleaning up the camp, they took us over to Heber for a Dairy Keen lunch. Sunny & I also got to go to Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum, which was fabulous because some of our ancestors were there in framed pictures on the walls. After a little window shopping, browsing at antique stores, and much much more walking, we were on our way back to camp. Such a fun weekend!

Brighton Camp, Week 6: July 27-August 1

Theme: JUNGLE
This week was fabulous! Partially because all the activities were changed up a bit. It POURED all week, with thunder and lightning 24/7 to boot. I felt like Piglet from Winnie the Pooh: "and the rain rain rain came down down down, and Piglet started bailing..." We were soaked! (Half the staff, it seemed like, all caught colds) None the less, we had a grand time, with an indoor showing of "The Jungle Book" during hike time to brighten the wet camp. Another positive in the week was that Elaine S. Dalton came to speak to us! It was so enlightening and inspiring, she always gives a mean devotional.

Brighton Camp, Week 5: July 20-25

Theme: TWEAK WEEK
You might be wondering what exactly 'tweak week' is, but it's simple. Everything about camp is tweaked, for example, devotional was moved from Thursday to Tuesday and I wore my shirt backwards one day. Any decorations you can find/make work, ANYTHING GOES basically.

A Camping We Will Go!

Although Sunny & I have been camping all summer, our fam decided to take a weekend to go....yep, you guessed it....camping. As if we haven't already had enough. But it was so fun and sleeping in a tent was a far cry from the nice cabins we've slept in at Brighton. Plus, bro and sis-in-law joined in with her parents in their trailer. After many card games, good talk, and much more fun the weekend was over. I was sad to see it end, but happy to return to Brighton.

Brighton Camp, Week 4: July 13-18

Theme: UNDER THE SEA
This week was filled with fun skits, tons of deer, and a great devotional! Was mostly overcast, with lots of rain (oh the irony). Even got warning of bears around the area, so overnighter was cancelled and all treats/outdoor cooking was monitored closer than ever before.

This cute little deer was running around the Craft Shack chasing two others. Most likely playing tag or something. Saw many more during the week.
One skit morning--we chose to re-enact Finding Nemo, Sunny made an adorable Nemo with a gimpy fin.
