A Tender Goodbye

After an entire school year with these girlies, I am most definitely going to miss them! And not to mention their quirks, sarcasm, jokes, burnt food, distracting me from homework, surprising me for my birthday, etc…These girls are FABULOUS! Could not have asked for a better first year of college and I found it at Snow College! The only thing to say after all the goodbyes are over is I love you guys and I can't wait to get together (often!) after we go our different ways. I know we're all going separate directions in our lives, but I hope that all I've learned from them will stick with me and that we'll be friends always.

A Field Trip of the Wonderful Kind

For E (my roommate) and I, Geology class has been rough this semester. But the highlight of the whole experience was going on a required day-long field trip to Capitol Reef. I had never been there before, and it was so beautiful! I couldn't believe how green everything was--probably because the backdrop was the red cliffs/rocks. Despite it being April in Utah, it was actually really hot outside, and I didn't even get burned! The joke is on you sun, this girl knows how to put sunscreen on!

It was really sketchy because we had to hike to this one hill to examine it up close. It was by some old mine shafts, which would have been awesome other than the huge signs in front of them saying "RADIATION: BE CAREFUL". Oh boy, now that's all I've ever wanted, is to be radioactive. I'm singing the Imagine Dragons song as I type this, by the way. Let's just say me, E, and A (another girl in the class) were wanting off that cliff ASAP.

We came upon an old dinosaur lodged in the side of a mountain. No one has excavated it because its protected through the National Parks Service. Our teacher told us that the only way to tell if it's a dino bone is to lick it. Yes, lick it. Like stick out your tongue and taste the dirt on that old raggedy thing. If your tongue sticks, it's a dinosaur bone, if it doesn't, it's not. We weren't sure whether to believe her or not, but we did anyways; we licked it. GROSS! But my tongue, did in fact, stick. Never doing that again. I can only imagine all the other people before me who have done that. EWW.

All in all, the trip was a delight and it was good to get out of the classroom, even if it was only for one day. I wish we could've stayed longer, there were tons of other sites we had to skip over because of time. I'll definitely have to go back soon. Field trips are awesome, and take me back to Elementary School when I didn't have homework and got to play outside all day if I wanted.
